I found a link announcing this updated SANS report in a Slashdot RSS news release on the O'Reilly Network web site at Meerkat: Open Wire Service.

Actually, remote posting to a blog has limited use. I guess one application of the e-mail posting feature would be for someone who was posting an announcement to a newsgroup or e-mail listserver and wished to also place the same message on a blog without an extra publishing step.

Amazon.com Web Services as an Educational Resource Tool.
See AMAZON.COM and WEB SERVICES: http://associates.amazon.com/exec/panama/associates/ntg/browse/-/1067662/104-4716456-7515113
Here's a pratical way to learn more about both "Web Services" and "XML", simply use the existing web services of Amazon.com Associates to build a web page interface. (If using VBScript in an ASP page, the answers are returned as a 'ResponseXML' object. Of course, other languages can be used instead, it's not just something that's only done with VBScript.)
By the way, 'web services' can be created with, and consumed (utilized) by, both MS .Net and IBM WebSphere. Also, there's now a Google Web API which is a web service.
